ADHD HEALING TOUCH ENERGY MASSAGE WORKSHOP

What is healing?
Contrary to popular belief, healing is not the removal of symptoms. It is the returning to a state of alignment with your Higher Self or true way of being. Healing refers to energy balancing which is the art and practice of re-aligning, balancing and re-attuning the body's electromagnetic energy field. Treating ADHD
ADHD is a complex disorder that affects the child in all parts of his/her life. Without treatment the child with ADHD is more likely than his peers to develop behavioral problems that may lead to more "at risk" behavior.
It is essential for a comprehensive treatment program to include medical, educational and psychological interventions.
Treatment plans focus on the individual with ADHD but may include support plans for other family members as well.
Treatment is most effective when those involved work together as a team.
Medical intervention:
Medication has shown to be the most effective treatment for individuals with ADHD
Medication can reduce and sometimes eliminate the symptoms of ADHD in children, adolescents, and adults
Medication does not cure or eliminate ADHD
Medication helps the individual immediately and therefore lessens the likelihood of complications related to anxiety and depression
Other treatments for ADHD frequently are more effective when combined with medication
Pharmological treatment requires ongoing involvement with the prescribing physician
Physicians will monitor treatment effects and adjust dosages

Some evidence has suggested that right frontal lobe is smaller in children with ADHD than non-ADHD children (the right side of the brain is generally considered to be involved in attention processes). This data was supported by the close similarities in symptoms between ADHD and people who have suffered frontal lobe damage or right hemisphere damage through illness or accident.
New technology has allowed us to advance from looking at the brain through static imaging techniques (such as CT scans and MRI scans). Now we have functional imaging techniques (SPECT & fMRI) which allow researchers to view the brain while is works - a moving picture if you like.
Functional studies have exposed a decrease in the metabolic activity in the right frontal lobe, but also in an area known as the basal ganglia (this region is responsible for regulating movement and is connected with the frontal lobe region).
Recently these functional imaging techniques have pointed at 3 areas closely related to the basal ganglia, believed to be responsible for the symptoms of ADHD:
